Fullerton Park

Ford 1 – 2 BYM

BYM 2s made the away trip to Fullerton Park to take on Ford who we were unlucky not to get a point off a few weeks earlier. Ford started the brighter of the two sides but the mixture of youth and experience saw the YM grow into the game restricting and frustrating the home team to long distance efforts.

Nearing the end of the half Sanchez pick up the stray ball from a corner and with his trickery he left the full back in a daze who ended up bringing him down for a penalty. Patterson stepped up to smash it home. Half time1-0.

The YM started the 2nd half well playing the better football and containing Ford to long distance speculative efforts with Mike Chalmers in goals rarely tested. As the game turned into a battle the YM stood up to the challenge however on 75mins the ever impressive Collins was judged to have brought the Ford winger down and a somewhat soft pen was awarded. Ford stuck it in though Chalmers in goal was unlucky not to get it. 1-1

The YM reaction was instant and saw them turn the game back in the away team’s favour following the introduction of Belvoir, young Billy and Ritchie. Fighting for everything and with 10 minutes on the clock Patterson hit a 40 yard volley catching the keeper off the line. The YM defended like lions for a well-deserved victory showing great courage and a better team spirit proving that hard work does win games. MOTM Patterso
