BYM 3 – 3 RAVENHILL

In the opening fixture of the 19/20 season, a new look Bangor YM side under the stewardship of a McClean/Ireland management partnership, took on Ravenhill at bloomfield playing fields.

The YM could not have asked for a better start when Crooks robbed the Ravenhill keeper inside the opening minutes and put the home side one up.

The YM were dominant in the opening 20 mins with some great wing play creating chances and they got a reward for their endeavours as they went two up. A Curty Bell corner, glanced on by Muphy was met by a powerful finish by Rogan at the back post.

The homeside continued to dominate and should have been 3 infront after a fantastic ball by Donlan across the six yard box, but Mckees effort was saved by the Ravenhill keeper. Ravenhills first goal swiftly followed after a break down the right hand side resulted in a deep ball to the back post which was met by the Ravenhill number 9.

The YM were unfortunate to find themselves level a few minutes later after a corner was pushed out towards the edge of the box and the Ravenhill number 12 lobbed it back over Patterson in nets.

The YM refused to let their heads drop though and went into the break 3-2 ahead after a clever free kick worked between Bell and Crooks, which seem Crooks drill the ball low past their keeper from 20 yards.

The 2nd half was a scrappy affair, with little quality from either side but plenty of effort.
Ravenhill pulled level with 20mins to go, after a freekick fell onto the edge of the box and was buried low past the YM keeper.

Both sides had chances to win it as the game neared its end, with Patterson producing a great save to deny the ravenhill number 9 and then Howell going close with a lob in what was the games last real chance.
